As winter comes to a close, the spirit of giving in Emery Village remains strong. The 2025–2026 Winter Coat Drive, held in support of the Children’s Breakfast Clubs of Canada, wrapped up on March 27th after months of generous community support.
Running from October 20th, the drive collected gently used, clean winter items—coats, scarves, mittens, boots—as well as new socks and essentials to help bring warmth and comfort to children and families in need.
A key drop-off location was Safe Storage Depot on Wilson Avenue, a long-standing Emery business that once again stepped up for the community.
“We’re incredibly grateful to our customers,” said George Diovolitis of the management team. “Many of the donations came from people passing through our office each day. Their kindness made a real difference, and we’re proud to be part of it.”
The initiative was also supported by the Emery Village BIA, which continues to play an active role in community programs.
Executive Director Sandra Farina shared, “This coat drive shows what makes Emery Village special. Our businesses and residents always find ways to support one another. Thank you to everyone who contributed—you’ve helped bring comfort to many families this winter.”
Support from Toronto Police Service 31 Division helped extend the reach across the area. Community Police Officer Deanne Taylor added:
“Thank you to Sprinter King and the Happy Hookers Knitting Club for your generous donations of jackets and hand-knit items. Your kindness helps keep our community warm.”
Building on a successful holiday season of toy and food drives, the community is now turning its attention to a prom dress initiative—continuing a strong tradition of caring and connection in Emery Village.
