Councillor’s Corner - Feb 2016

Dear Friends,

As the winter season is in its midst, this is a time of year when I hear many questions regarding the snow clearing and salting services within Ward 7. Therefore, I’d like to address this month’s issue on the city standard of snow clearing and salting services Ward 7 residents have been experiencing so far this year.

A number of residents within the Ward 7 community have contacted my office and expressed their concerns on the efficiency and response time of snow clearing and salting of their streets and sidewalks. There are a number of ways we as a community can ensure that our streets are cleared and salted as quickly as possible.

Primarily, residents who have access to the internet may now keep up to date in real time on the snow clearing and salting services taking place in their community by going to www.toronto.ca/plowTO. Secondly, I would also encourage residents who find that their streets are not getting cleared and salted in a timely manner to call 311 to report the issue, as well as contacting my office so we may ensure your streets are cleared and salted as quickly as possible.

Together we can make a change that will result in more efficient and faster snow removal services for Ward 7 residents. This means you will be able to get out of your driveways with more ease and get to where you need to go. If ever you find that the snow clearing service is not up to speed, I encourage you to please call 311 to report the issue. As always, if you find that the snow clearing service is not adequate after calling 311, please contact my office and we will ensure that your streets are efficiently serviced.

As the winter season continues I encourage you all to stay warm and safe, and enjoy the beautiful scenery of our community during these winter months.

Ward 7 Councillor Giorgio Mammoliti
