Councillor’s Corner - October 2023

Councillor’s Corner

Dear Resident,

I’m thrilled to update you on the significant progress made in preserving the Marian Shrine of Gratitude. On October 10th, the Toronto Preservation Board agreed to include the Marian Shrine of Gratitude on the listing statement for 3100 Weston Rd. This inclusion ensures that any future development plans will consider its historical importance through a Heritage Impact Assessment report. On October 16th, I presented this item to the Etobicoke Community Council, where I invited residents to show their support for the preservation of the Marian Shrine of Gratitude. A heartfelt thank you to all those who attended and voiced their support during both the preservation board and the council meetings.

In other news, I am also excited to share that the Finch West LRT has hit important construction milestones! On Oct 18th, the Finch West team hosted an open house at my constituency office where residents had an opportunity to ask them questions and provide feedback about the project. They have completed the guideway, track slack, and duct banks. They also completed the installation of the 486 overhead catenary system poles along the alignment of the Finch West LRT. They have made remarkable progress and we are looking forward to the completion of the project!
