Emery Village BIA - June 2018

Executive Director's message

School is officially out and the summer fun has begun.

Join the Emery BIA on August 10 for Movie in the Park. Bring a blanket and a lawn chair and watch your kids have fun on the splash pad until the movie starts to roll at dusk. Treats and refreshments are also available at the concession stand at reasonable rates, so mark your calendars for another night under the stars.

Are your kids going to be bored this summer? Check out the Carmine Stefano Community Centre offering day camps for kids of different age groups. Availability is limited so registration should be completed as soon as possible.

The extended care option provides supervised care before and/or after camp for children registered in the City of Toronto, Parks, Forestry and Recreation camp sessions. Extended hours programs have a separate barcode for registration. Refer to the camp program charts for times, fees and locations.

See what is available by visiting the Carmine Stefano Community Centre web site under Camps:

Adventure camps are also available at the Gord and Irene Risk Community Centre for different age groups. These adventure camps have all the ingredients of an activity camp and more. Campers are introduced to a variety of enhanced activities through workshops, special events and excursions. The camps have a $10 consumable fee.

For more information and registration please visit the Gord and Irene Risk Community Centre website:

Summer is also the best time to shine and tune up a bike that has been in storage for months. Make sure that everyone, including the bigger kids know the rules of the road, so that everyone understands vehicle responsibilities and arrives home safely.

A great guide can be found on the Ministry of Transportation site called the Young Cyclist’s Guide, a kid friendly handbook of cycling safety tips and rules for young riders. Download your copy today by visiting:

Let’s make this summer a memorable one by having fun and staying safe.

Have a great month!

Sincerely,

Sandra Farina
