A blast from the past in Emery

A blast from the past in Emery

Depending on your age, you may not know that Emery Village once had a thriving mall at the southeast corner of Finch Ave. and Weston Rd., called The Finch West Mall, which existed through the 1980s and 1990s. until the land was sold, and the mall was demolished.

The first photo looks Southeast from Weston Rd. in the mid-1980s; the Safeway grocery store can be seen, and to the left would have been Zellers, as shown on the main sign. The second photo looks northeast to the mall from the apartment building right across the street in the 1990s; you can see Canadian Tire.

Today you will find towers one and two of the Medalian Corp development at the exact location.
