Labour Day finale returns
For Emery families planning one final major summer outing, Labour Day weekend offers a familiar Toronto combination: the closing days of the Canadian National Exhibition and aircraft filling the sky above the waterfront.
The 2026 CNE runs through Monday, September 7. The grounds are scheduled to operate from 10 a.m. to midnight before Labour Day, with reduced closing hours on the final Monday. Visitors can expect the midway, food, exhibitions, family programming and live entertainment, including Tom Cochrane at the Bandshell on Saturday, September 5.
Overhead, the Canadian International Air Show marks its 77th edition from September 5 to 7. Flying is scheduled from noon to 3:40 p.m. each day, with a practice session planned for Friday, September 4. Announced performers include the Canadian Forces Snowbirds, the Royal Canadian Air Force CF-18 demonstration and a United States Air Force F-16 demonstration, along with several aerobatic acts.
The main ticketed viewing area is at Marilyn Bell Park, while portions of the show can also be seen from the CNE grounds and other waterfront locations. Organizers recommend arriving early, using public transit where possible and bringing water, sun protection and hearing protection for anyone sensitive to aircraft noise. Schedules can change because of weather, maintenance or operational requirements, so check the official sites before leaving Emery.
