Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message - May 2023

Emery Village BIA Executive Director’s message

June is right around the corner and so is Father’s Day. Do you need some ideas on what to do for dad, your husband, or your grandfather?

Here are some suggestions that could spark some creativity on a budget and fill that special father’s heart with love on Sunday, June 18th.

Eight ways to celebrate Father’s Day on a budget

1. Create a family photo. One thoughtful gift idea is to create a framed photo of a special moment or family picture.

2. Cook breakfast in bed or his favourite meal.

3. Do a movie or game night.

4. Go fishing, or hiking together.

5. Spend a day trying out his favourite hobby.

6. Bake his favourite dessert or treat.

7. Spend a day outdoors in nature

8. Make it a family night, everyone bring some food or snacks where everyone can unwind, listen to some music, and enjoy each other’s company and share some laughs.

Notes and Tips:

Emery will have a special Movie in the Park event on August 19th. The movie is free and there will be some special free activities and special treats to celebrate Emery BIA’s 20th Anniversary.

It will be located at Joseph Bannon Park, 65 Mary Chapman Blvd. Bring a chair and a blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars. Stay tuned as more details to follow in next month’s edition of The Emery Village Voice.

Road Safety:

Always make eye contact with drivers when crossing streets and large intersections.

It is crucial that you are not distracted as a pedestrian with mobile devices to let drivers know you see them too.

Bicycle Diplomacy:

Make sure you know proper signaling and wear proper protection when riding your bike.

As usual, stay safe this month.

Sincerely,

Sandra Farina
