MillerKnoll’s Global Day of Purpose

By Sean Delaney

November 4th was the Global Day of Purpose, the special day MillerKnoll sets aside each year for associates around the world to volunteer in their local communities. MillerKnoll is a global leader in modern design, creating high-quality furniture, office solutions, and interior products for workplaces, homes, and public spaces.

This annual tradition is built on a simple idea: when we give our time to help others, we are truly better together. This year, MillerKnoll teams organized close to 200 group volunteer events, and when you add in individual acts of service, the total number of activities topped 400. It’s a remarkable show of heart from a company that operates across the world and here at home in Emery Village.

Locally, associates once again stepped up and supported groups that make a difference. Over the years, their efforts have reached places like the Horse Therapy Centre of Canada, Canadian Blood Services, and Vaughan park cleanups. This year, the team offered valuable help to WAES (Weston Area Emergency Support) during one of their busiest seasons.

“Thank you, MillerKnoll, for reaching out to WAES. We appreciate the time you spent with us. It’s a busy time of year. We look forward to more opportunities to work together,” said Diana Stapleton, Chair of WAES.

Her message captures the real spirit of the day. It’s not just the work that matters—it’s the kindness behind it, and the connections it builds.

I want to offer a sincere thank-you to Kelvin Rainey, whose leadership helped guide these efforts, and to all the associates who took part. They were out across the community doing good work, right here in Emery Village and beyond, and it deserves to be recognized.

This is the kind of leadership that inspires others. When a company gives employees paid time to volunteer, it sends a powerful message about values and community care. It shows what businesses can do when they make service a priority.

In Emery Village, we always say good news matters. MillerKnoll’s Global Day of Purpose is one of those stories that reminds us what strong communities are built on—people who care, and companies willing to support them.
