Emery Village Voice: Building a kinder, more connected community in 2026
For more than twelve years, the Emery Village Voice has kept the same simple promise: shine a light on the good in our neighbourhood. Every month, I’m reminded why I love this work. The more we write about kind people and generous businesses, the more I hear back from residents who want to help, and from businesses asking how they can get involved. It’s a good cycle — one I’d like to grow even more in 2026.
As we head into the new year, the paper will continue to deepen its focus on community care. This neighbourhood is full of people who step up quietly, whether it’s checking in on seniors, helping a child stay warm, supporting a local charity, or lifting someone’s spirits when they need it most. These are the stories that show the true heart of Emery Village, and we’re going to keep telling them.
We now have a dedicated section called “Kindness in Action – Emery”, set aside for exactly that purpose. It spans two full pages and highlights residents and businesses who are doing good — or looking to do good. If you’re interested in helping with coats, toys, food drives, school needs, or something completely new, please reach out. I’m happy to connect you with a local initiative that could use a lift.
I also want to make this clear: if you see something in the community that needs attention, or you’d like to start something positive, send me a note. One of the privileges of running this paper is being able to connect people, groups, and ideas. If I can help open a door or bring people together, I will.
And for those hosting holiday gatherings or business events: if you’re hoping for a visit from Santa, let me know. I happen to have a direct line to the big guy and can often arrange a cheerful drop-by, candy canes included. Just email me at sean@emeryvillagevoice.ca, and we’ll see what we can do.
As we look toward 2026, I want the Emery Village Voice to remain a vessel of good — a place where generosity is shared, kindness is encouraged, and neighbours help neighbours. Emery Village is a special community, and when we lift one another up, it only gets stronger.
Here’s to a bright, warm, and caring year ahead.
